Socorro Acioli was born in Fortaleza, Ceará, in 1975. She is a journalist, holds a PhD in Literature from the Fluminense Federal University and is a professor at the University of Fortaleza, where she coordinates the specialization in Writing and Creation. In 2013, she won the Jabuti Prize in the children's category with the work Ela tem olhos de céu (Editora Gaivota, 2012). In 2014, she published A cabeça do santo (Companhia das Letras), which was published in England, the United States, France, Mexico and Italy. In 2023, she made her poetry debut with Takimadalar, as ilhas invisíveis (Círculo de Poemas) and is launching Oração para perder (Companhia das Letras), her second novel.
