Rene is an entrepreneur, communicator, and activist. In 2005, he founded Voz das Comunidades, a news outlet focused on Rio de Janeiro’s favelas, which also runs social impact initiatives to help reduce social inequality. He gained national recognition during the major police operation in the Complexo do Alemão in 2010, which led to his inclusion in Forbes' list of the 30 most influential young people in Brazil. More recently, in May 2023, he was featured in TIME magazine’s list of 10 young leaders of the new generation. In 2024, Rene Silva made his debut as the host of the TV Globo program "Não Era Só Mais um Silva."
