Fundição Progresso

In 1982, a group of avant-garde artists decided to fight against the demolition of a deactivated factory in Lapa (RJ). The resistance was successful, and Fundição Progresso became one of the main venues for performances in the country, promoting initiatives that transform through Art, Culture, Education, and the Environment. It offers courses and workshops, and serves as a hub for cultural agents who organize a diverse program of national and international performances, boosting the creative industry, with more than 200 annual events and the circulation of 1 million people each year. This operational model earned Fundição the title of Material and Immaterial Cultural Heritage of Rio de Janeiro.
