Director, producer and co-founder of O2 Filmes. He directed the film City of God, released in 2002 and nominated for 4 Oscars, including best director. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe, for best director, in 2005, for his film “O jardineiro Fiel”, in addition to the adaptation of “Ensaio sobre a cegueira”, by José Saramago, in 2008, and the film 360, in 2011. He was one of the creative directors of the Rio 2016 Olympics opening ceremony. Increasingly involved in causes related to the environment, he maintains a nursery of native species, dedicated to recover riparian forests and create legal reserve areas.
