Screenwriter
Wislan Esmeraldo is a screenwriter and filmmaker from Ceará, with a degree in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Federal University of Ceará. Among the projects in which he worked as a screenwriter, the film Motel Destino (2024), directed by Karim Aïnouz, stands out, having competed for the Palme d’Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. He is the co-director and co-writer of the TV series Identidade, #Transvive (Tardo), Se Avexe Não (Orla/TV Brasil/EBC), and Trago a Pessoa Amada (Orla/Prime Box Brasil). His first fiction feature-length screenplay, O Rio, which won the Best Screenplay award at Guiões 2019 — Portuguese Language Screenplay Festival, will be filmed in 2025, co-directed with Hilton Lacerda.
